A hard-hitting cover and issue of GamePro from March 1997. The N64 is DOOMed! Such a good version of DOOM. 💜 And this is a pretty hot year for game releases overall - one only just getting started.
A scan of GamePro March 1997's issue with a Cyberdemon from DOOM on the cover. Golden Eye, Mario Kart 64, Soul Blade, Need for Speed II, Diablo, Blood are just some of the games featured.

Absolutely obsessed with these key images from EGM #29 that are literally just hand cut photographs of a CRT (including scanlines!) pasted into the article layout.

The first Angel stepped up and poured his bowl out on earth: Loathsome, stinking sores erupted on all who had taken the mark of the Beast and worshiped its image.

ah so exactly like 2025
A screenshot of a tweet by Merriam-Webster: “take a screenshot of this GIF and whichever word you land on is your word for 2026. Let’s go.” the word it landed on is brain rot.

Absolute @shreyanjain.net cultural victory 👏
[2] "That's the metaphor" and it's a pretty good one too considering that "Atmosphere" was an unplanned creation by a community member Shreyan punning off of AT Protocol. What are the odds of that? Not only does it connect to "at protocol" and work as a descriptor of connected clouds, but it also relates thematically to "bluesky." As a chronic word inventor, my jealousy of Shreyan's accomplishment is immeasurable.

Jigsaw puzzles can be a relaxing and meditative way to spend an afternoon. These are a few of our testers' favorites, including one consisting almost exclusively of edge pieces. nyti.ms/4qtXPEm

Zug-Zug! The Battle for Azeroth begins here with just four orcs and a donut shaped Town Hall. Difficult experiences with working on prior licensed games was one of the factors that nixed Warcraft being a Warhammer RTS. 📺: Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, Blizzard Entertainment, 1994. (Apple Mac Ver.)
Pixel art of two brutish looking green-skinned orcs sitting at a wooden table , both clad in norse-esque armour and one holding a dagger while the other leans against the table by a map.
The game screen with the overhead view, quite a restricted field of view, and four orc units around two buildings linked by roads.

Digging around in a 'Readers Corner' collection of Mac format art from a '95 issue of Mac Format, and come across some fine anime influence and aesthetics blending into other stuff. In this case from digging into other files, a German EDM club called Gun-Factory. All the mid-90s cyberspaceyness.
An ad for Gun-Factory, with a phone number, all themed around a close-up of an anime face, and lines and HUD-esque elements coming out of a lens-like circle over one of the eyes, as if they're a cyborg. All bathed in a purple-red light.
Ads for Metropol House Arrest, and 360 with house, tech, and club music, all with a Lawnmower Man-ey cyberspace thing of clipart style fonts and glossy spheres and general trippiness.
