Fun fact 🌱: overwatering kills more houseplants than underwatering. Stick a finger in the soil before you reach for that watering can!

#3GoodThings 1. Pesto. I have dubbed basil season β€œpestober” 🌱 🍝 2. New watercolor painting palette works great! I’ll share my still life later. Hurray for metallic titanium white 🎨 3. Fructase has arrived, so I can try some local figs for dessert.

#Gardeners and #Birders: I live in north central Indiana and I used to get a lot of robins in my yard & garden but this year I have seen none. ZERO. Anyone else see the decline of robins? Why? I don't use any sprays or herbicides in my yard. I get all kinds of birds just no robins. Just weird🌱🐦

big winds last night, more house tiles in the pool; irrigation system still busted. But look how pretty it is! 🌝🌱 frontyard flora this morning after no rain but! debris in the streets again prob. more trees down Flowering Evergreen tolerate extremely hot dry climes. proof you can live wout humidity
you can live without humidity but you really should not because it's terrible for your skin. the front yard as viewed from standing at the base of the tall spiny cylindrical Cactus which has been in Bloom and has dozens of protrusions of flowers drying turning to fruit. sky above is a vibrant blue with mixed clouds and the yard reflects a number of different kinds of desert greenery and ornamental evergreens.
Calliandra Californica flowers of red, also called the Baja fairy Duster, the sky looks nearly white but that is probably the result of the high winds and filth in the air, tall spiny cylindrical Cactus next to a street lamp in the Sonoran Desert. behind it, is the white wing dove nest which was rebuilt by humans, nest which resides in the center of a prickly pear paddle Cactus with a single baby chick,, which you can see through The columns of the Peruvian Cereus s in the foreground, next to caliandra Californica's blooms, at left.
pretty sky in the Sonoran Desert after a night of high winds and damage done including tiles from the house which were very old, in the pool .sky is mostly white clouds with brighter blue filtering through. at near left we have calliandra Californica, center, Texas sage which is purple flowered , far left Evergreen bright pink Oleander. Peruvian Cereus ,tall spiny cylindrical behind that, is Prickly Pear paddle Cactus with a white wing dove nest in its center.

πŸͺΆ last eve While waiting on someone else to assemble Sun. meal☺️I opened the door in sunroom; I was thinking of birbπŸ•ŠοΈπŸͺ½πŸ₯🍼too... To seeπŸŒ™ 🌝, looking so much like a pie, in still-πŸ”΅ Sky. My dog who never does such things; she's not allowed in frontyard there's no fence, begged2 go "w/me inYard"🌱 LunaDog
mostly full? Moon looks so pretty as seen from my front yard looking at my neighbors Queen palm which is short in stature compared to the traditional palms, that are pushing up into the blue portion of the sky behind it got ranch home roofs we've got greenery we've got golden clouds.
I realized that my dog has wandered to the other side of the yard as the white wing Dove crosses the frame while I am snapping pictures of the previously described early mid evening Moon looking nearly full in a blue sky with golden white clouds on the horizon and ranch home roof below as well as palm trees! with fronds.
I should have known better!
anyway the baby bird is safely in the cactus and Luna did not track to the cactus but she followed everywhere that anything had ever been in this yard so this is my dog Luna from behind, last night before dinner, a fuzzy gray poodle mix dog, next to a white bowl on a gravel ground at the base of a prickly pear paddle Cactus which has a white wing dove nest at its center ,next to a street next to a 3-ft ornamental whitewashed wall

The Pedaliaceae go in for trample burs, which attach when trod upon. Here’s another: Sesamum eriocarpum (formerly Dicerocaryum e.). This prostrate plant has discoid fruit with 2 sharp pointsβ€”perfect for sticking into hooves of animals. πŸ“·: tjeerd CCBYNC4 #Pedaliaceae #epizoochory #Botany 🌾πŸ§ͺ🌱

Dahlias, wildflowers, zinnias gathered to light up the room. Even when I start out with a theme for arranging, I find nature allows every color to fit perfectly together with every other color. It’s kind of amazing 🀩

The white spathe of an arum like zantedeschia flower forms a heart shape. A bright yellow finger like spadix is visible inside the spathe opening. The base of the spadix glows subtly yellow and green. Thick fleshy stalks and leaves fill the background

Also a wild time for tent caterpillars. Their wiggly webs full of dozens to hundreds of little roommates were everywhere. People seemed to think they were giant alien spiders but weren’t that bothered πŸ€”. People need to go outside more. #Nature #Wildlife #SmallJoys #BugSky #Invertebrates #Moths 🌱

It was a crazy good year for Elderberries and they were already hanging in heavy clusters while the Pokeweed berries were filling out and starting to ripen. The migrating birds will have quite the buffet waiting for them in a few weeks. #Nature #Wildlife #SmallJoys 🌱

Went for a #birds & #bloomscrolling walk with Mr. CMG at Montrose Bird Sanctuary by Lake Michigan on Sunday to watch the shorebirds from the pier. Earlier rain has water levels high so the sandy inlet side was looking rather artsy. #Nature #Wildlife #SmallJoys 🌱

I don’t grow decorative vegetables and I don’t like that good edible squashes are sold as decorative items. However… All my winter squash ripened at the same time. I need to store them and they are pretty, so here we go! 🌱
