🌱🌳🧪 Woot! The London Plane seeds sprouted! Straight outta Brooklyn. A 72 hour soak in water and then sow in sodden potting soil. Probably 20 so far.

🌱#gardening in winter is protecting perennials from hungry residents of the great outdoors.

I put some alfalfa pellets out today for the rabbits (so they don’t eat my fruit tree bark). Can you see who came instead???

Thru a chair frame and some vines, we see an opossum. Next photo is the same with slightly different exposure.

We have a wild leek that blesses a portion of our front side yard in a similar manner; what passes for winter here in San José is much like April in my native Minnesota: a bit cool and it might rain, so we plant spring greens and peas and jump back! 🌱

🌱 wildlife pro tip of the day: when trimming back dead or weak hollow stems of plants leave a few sideways ones a several inches off ground as they’re really good habitat for some chill native bees (eg halictids). Some of the bigger Salvias, Firespike, and blackberry are quite good for this

Decorated tree 🎄 #tree #guava #flowers 🌱
The very pretty flowers of the guava have a white bud bursting into a spray of bright red stamens tipped with yellow against glossy on one side leaves and a grey furry underside. Very seasonsal

Some sort of egg sack on my papaya tree. Size and shape of a cotton ball. I am guessing it's a banana spider, but if anyone knows, or has another theory I would love to hear it. Location - East central Florida. #bugs 🌿🌴🌱🐞🕷️
