Eggplant ‘Shooting Stars’. Beautiful but I’m never convinced about culinary value. I made parm, it was good but what else? What do you do with eggplant? 🌱

A fritillary of some kind feeds on my Red Whisker Clammyweed, Polanisia dodecandra, on a hot Kansas day. This is my first time planting clammyweed. It's an annual but I have the feeling I'll be seeing it for years to come. 🌱 #nativeplants#pollinators
I wanted to see how big my funny tomatillo dude would get, but I saw that it cracked today so I figured it was time to pick it. Yay! You made it so far, my dude!!! 🌱
This was a very very very good tomatillo day 🥹🌱
Also I'm not sure how but one squash plant got destroyed near the base and everything was already dying off 😥 had to harvest the wee baby in the middle.
Turned eggplant blessings into 5x 12oz bags of chopped roasted deliciousness frozen & ready to add to pasta sauces, stews, or quick dips. Still have 2 softball-sized beauties to do a deconstructed Eggplant Parmesan later this week.

🌱Though similar in color, that is not Amaryllis belladonna - but Lycoris squamigera. Lycoris is the Asian counterpart of Nerine. Here are two distinct variants of L. chinensis, acquired from different sources - both in what is becoming my ever expanding 💰😅 hardy Lycoris collection.😎
An assassin bug chowing down on a false potato beetle larva that was eating eggplant leaves. This is why you don’t indiscriminately spray insecticides—predator insects are killed too and their numbers recover more slowly. 🌱 🦋
It's a Sea of Tomato Stakes.

(we use trimmed branches for a lot of it, we save the paid stuff for key uses like trellising, otherwise it'd be a fortune in bamboo and cages).
