I keep thinking back on the "Quake 2 has no atmosphere" quote, and while I understand what Trent means, Q2 is kinda made by its more bombastic adrenaline rush tone. I couldn't imagine enjoying Quake 2 nearly as much if it tried to be eerie and atmospheric

I got to know Rich when Ritual and Rogue made mission packs for Quake 2 and I got to work with him directly at Ritual for a few years. He was a guy who cared genuinely about passing down his knowledge to others and helping devs in their careers. His influence is immeasurable and he will be missed!

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Richard “Levelord” Gray. From his legendary work on Duke Nukem 3D to the countless players and developers he inspired, Richard leaves behind a lasting legacy. Rest in peace, Levelord.
