each time you add a mod to a game, it becomes a different game, not necessarily better. i think most mods are transformative, not meant to be improvements. it's interesting and fun to play variations of games. imagine where we would be without kaizo mario or the stanley parable (a half life 2 mod)

Agreed. A flawless STG run would be just as cool as any kaizo mario run.

I think the official one would just take precedent. More people would play a Mario Galaxy 4 than watch the YouTube channel, and the former meaning would get more mainstream usage.
It’s a bit like how Super Mario Odyssey went from a SMW hack name to a Nintendo title. The former easily won the name.

I have no desire to ever be good enough to play a kaizo Mario game, but the runs during gdq are always so much fun to watch. This super dram world 3 might be one of the most creative ones I have seen.
