NWS Spirit have announced that former Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers coach Dan Barrett will take the reigns at the club for the remainder of the #NPLWNSW season, starting with Wednesday's #SapphireCup game against Central Coast Mariners.

Unlike most Mariners fans, this first 3 weeks has not surprised me in the slightest. While there is a lot of the season left, the sample size is enough to reiterate: this does not look like an org built for a WS.

The question remains: will Mariners ownership and FO take the steps necessary next year? Because as cute as this year’s story was, it is not an offensive lineup built to truly compete. Getting Geno and Naylor was great, but that’s not going to cut it.
