Heute vor 43 Jahren: Am 01.09.1983 zündeten die #USA im Rahmen von Operation Phalanx die 14. Atombombe "Chancellor". Phalanx war eine Serie von #Kernwaffentests bei der 1982/83 insgesamt 19 Bomben größtenteils im Testgebiet in #Nevada unterirdisch gezündet wurden.

So Organic Maps is a great Google Maps alternative if you don't want to kowtow to the orange ones naming tantrums. It uses @openstreetmap data and works offline as well! organicmaps.app

The other option is there are a couple of open source apps that use Open Street Map I believe. So no national ties, all open source stuff. Also not Canadian, but then also not tied to a corporation either.

I was on the phone with a friend this evening and we were both grousing about Google. She already uses a different search engine (as do I) but then I told her about Open Street Map. She didn't know about it before - she was so excited! 😁 www.openstreetmap.org #DeGoogle #OpenStreetMap

Can confirm that @openstreetmap.bsky.social still has Lake Ontario. I'm using OpenStreetMaps as a baseline in my Smart city platform I've been building for now the last year. Was actually building a demo rig last night for it. This isn't OpenStreetMaps but pretty happy with the rig control panel
