Just played through the 2nd part of Another Code Recollection which is based on the Wii game. This time I swapped out the Jack Daniels with some Irish Cream. It was a good time with some pretty emotional moments. Story was engaging even if I knew some of the twists beforehand. I love Ashley. ^_^

Played through the first half of the Another Code Recollection last night with the first game. Along with a drink of Jack Daniels it was a nice adventure game. I knew the twist a mile away but I like D's backstory that you discover throughout the game.

Game #44 of 2025: Another Code: Recollection; a remake of the original DS game and its Wii sequel, combined as one experience now. I never played either game, so I really enjoyed this (despite its changes?). I completed the game with all origami cranes collected along with the Eco-Master Badge.

Looking good!
A 3DS overlay needs adjustments since it's more of a 16:10 screen.
And then there's games that turn sideways like Mario & Luigi or Hotel Dusk. 16:9 overlay works for sideways DS and 4:3 overlay works for sideways 3DS.

It plays more like Famicom Detective Club, but we're all huge fans of Hotel Dusk and it was definitely a big inspiration for us!

as I haven't seen it, I'm all on board "s3 is bad" in fact, not joking I'm not sure it exists I've never seen anybody say anything about it, but s1 is good. It's just an entirely different sort of show from s2 & CinG and the movie. More casual, light. no hard liquor.

back to working on readme! got a chapter navigation bar done :) instead of using tailwind like usual I actually wrote vanilla css, it felt weird but i kinda... liked it? there's something nice about cascading styles down instead of ctrl-cing classes

played Detective Instinct: Farewell My Beloved today! caught my eye a while ago with its razor sharp sense of DS-era visual novel style, Hotel Dusk in particular, but it plays more streamlined than that game and wears its Ace Attorney inspo on its sleeve too. a nice polished 4 hours, had a fun time!

I'm only two chapters in, but I'm really enjoying Detective Instinct: Farewell, My Beloved. It feels like a perfect mix of Hotel Dusk and Famicom Detective Club. The soundtrack is amazing. The mystery is intriguing. I'm invested in the main character's story arc, which is rare for this genre.

Hotel Dusk was my favorite of that style of fps control, along with various other Dungeon Crawlers on DS. (Orcs & Elves for example)

Occasionally I wonder if they'll do a remake collection of the Kyle Hyde games like they did Another Code but then I go into panic at them removing the rotoscoped style by making it 3D

on one hand its a shame hotel dusk is stuck on the ds but at the same time i dont think there should be any other way to play it

I suspect the next few years are going to be the last window for it.
Right now, the brandstruck are looking for anything to grab onto, but in a few years they either will have moved on to another collectible brand as identity or settled into "we don't need new product we can keep playing our game".
