Canceled my Nitro and installed Stoat. This is a result of how you value internet safety and the experience of your users. I don't agree with your age verification, I don't want my data to be analyzed and I don't want to be a punching bag of any more of your possible future decisions.

As a former discord partner and nitro subscriber since it launched, I'm perfectly fine swapping to something else with their proposed changes
However, the amount of info (especially speedrun related clips/tech/discussions) only available deep into discord channels getting lost is really gonna hurt

Make noise and speak with your wallet, seriously. Nobody wants this, you should never give a corporate your ID for anything online, especially now

2 months agoDiscord probably just self-destructed if enough people cancel Nitro. They’re stuck between increasingly authoritarian governments, an increasingly data-hungry tech industry, and a public which is conversely becoming increasingly privacy-conscious after years of their data being abused.

i know i've mentioned like 4 or 5 different services but i'm not necessarily scrambling right this minute. the only urgent part is cancelling nitro and like, those of us who are already interested in early-adopting are taking a look at the alternatives that exist

There may be a reason I don't know about, but if PayPal's UK ToS mandates you be 18 years or older to open a PayPal account, then why isn't that accepted as proof of age when you use it to buy Nitro? What about using a credit card?

Cancel your Nitro, complain to Discord on their Support, contact the California Attorney General about how this potentially violates CCPA and CALOPPA (if you live there), and shop for alternatives. But let's wait before we jump ship. We've bullied them to backtrack before, we can do it again.

Repeating what other people said but I’d advise that people not move off discord immediately because they’re known to backtrack on this kind of stuff. I remember they wanted to do nft integration at one point lmao

If the new discord changes happen I am going to have to SERIOUSLY consider moving off of the platform, very likely to teamspeak.

Just cancelled my Nitro @discord.com. Requiring age verification to “protect kids” is the flimsiest argument, especially since you were just hacked in October! Absolutely ridiculous…

I and many others will resub to nitro if you AXE the facial recognition. this is a violation of privacy. you already have my billing information. you know who i am. this is unnecessary

Yall do realize there is no actual good discord alternatives? So either start creating one or actually start fighting for discord. Cancel nitro if you are able. Make support accounts and start making tickets about how you’ll cancel nitro and leave the platform if these changes get implemented.
