In the Feb 1985 issues of LOGiN, game publisher Bothtec tried something unusual. Instead of a typical ad that looked like a spread from a catalog, they just printed an uncolored illustration (by in-house artist Kauyuki Takimoto), a list of their current and upcoming games, and their contact info.

"It was too big to be called a sword... Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough. Indeed, it was like a heap of raw iron." Devastating combat in a world of grim fantasy. 📺:Berserk Millennium Falcon Arc: Chapter of the Flowers of Oblivion, Yuke's, 1999 (Dreamcast)
A gameplay screenie with Guts swinging his mighty blade about in a narrow stonework manor corridor, with fallen foes and particles of blood flying out in an arc like speedlines

I always enjoy seeing crowds in old racing games, peering at all the jagged cardboard cutout creatures to see who turned up for a day of fine racing. 📺: Colin McRae Rally 2.0, Codemasters, 2000 (PS1)
A screenie of a foresty rally course, with a pack of rally cars arcing around a bending corner. Behind some protective stone walls, adorably low-res photo-scans of spectators clustered together.

(Y'all, the Zelda movie is for kids, not 38 year old Bluesky posters.)

An edited screenie of a Windows 95/98 installer for Final Fantasy VII's PC version demo, with artwork of Barret glowering from the installer. A polygonal model barret has been photoshopped in with a text box saying "The hard drive's dyin' Cloud! Ain't gonna be enough room lef' for all the programs!"
