The launch of ChatGPT's own browser has prompted me to make sure every AI bot we know of is blocked from accessing BLUF. And if there's a way we can block people using the Atlas browser, we'll do that as well. I simplyt don't trust these people not to steal info from every site you visit.

Best thread. All these totalitarian “experts” can suck it. In fact why do I need a plumber for fixing my plumbing when that guy should do my colonoscopy. I’ll hire some 15 year old instead. Bonus dollars if he/she can fix my problem without consulting ChatGPT or YouTube.

Checking with the hospital to make sure my upcoming colonoscopy is being performed by the local discount plumber and not some totalitarian with a medical degree

"Professional journalists from participating PSM [public service media] evaluated more than 3,000 responses from ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and Perplexity against key criteria, including accuracy, sourcing, distinguishing opinion from fact, and providing context."

45% of all AI answers had at least one significant issue. 31% of responses showed serious sourcing problems – missing, misleading, or incorrect attributions. 20% contained major accuracy issues, including hallucinated details and outdated information. www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/...

In slight defence of Shane Duffy, hes probably typed what he wanted to say into ChatGPT and had it fix his punctuation and sentence structure. Lots of people that struggle with that kind of thing do this, rightly or wrongly. Very unlikely hes just gone "ChatGPT write me an apology". #ncfc

AI chatbots such as ChatGPT and Copilot routinely distort the news and struggle to distinguish facts from opinion. That's according to a major new study from 22 international public broadcasters, including DW.

collapses. What you're seeing in the world now is a more adult, technological version of the same process: fear, misinformation, and isolation eat away at empathy until people start acting against their own values.
And you're right - psychology classes (or even just good reading in that area can help you make sense of the mass behavior side of this. A few areas that might give you language for what you're seeing:
• Social psychology - how group identity, conformity, and authority influence behavior.
• Cognitive biases - especially things like confirmation bias and motivated reasoning, which explain how people protect their worldview even when evidence contradicts it.
• Mass psychology / authoritarianism studies - books like The Authoritarian Personality or Hannah Arendt's The Origins of Totalitarianism look at how fear and belonging can override moral judgment.
It's not that people suddenly "went crazy." It's more that stress, uncertainty, and propaganda activate ancient survival wiring — tribalism, black-and-white thinking, obedience to strong figures - and those instincts crowd out nuance and compassion.

I have deployed and used Llama and ChatGPT based models, run local LLM's, helped assemble a learning dataset based on local needs, and measured outcomes from AI first interactions. AI sucks. The peak of text generation is an easier to read FAQ page and the peak of text-to-image is infringement.

There are basically only two positions in the debate about AI. 1. I’ve barely invested any time in learning how to use it effectively. AI sucks. 2. I’ve invested in learning how to use this tool. Holy cow, it’s transformational. Position #1 has lower barriers to entry.
