The current farebox recovery ratio is something like 17% (the only systems worldwide completely funded by fares are London and Hong Kong); at one point some 10-12 years ago it was closer to 70%, but ridership was much higher then as well. This will not help; I would prefer Metro go to a flat fare.

(this is very good advice actually. don't run your generator right next to your house. we keep ours about 30ft away and point the exhaust pipe away from the house)

If you lose power during Hurricane Isaias and use a portable generator, remember to run it at least 20 feet away from your home. Never run a generator indoors. Carbon monoxide is a deadly gas you can't see or smell and it can kill in minutes.
